After dancing for seven years in the vibrant Bay Area Ecstatic Dance community, Jenny Severo brought the transformative gift of ecstatic dance to Kansas City in 2016.
The event begins with a 45 minute yoga class to warm up our bodies and prepare for dance. Our two-hour dance journey is facilitated by a professional DJ and follows a wave-like arc beginning with an ambient, slow-tempo warm up, builds in energy and intensity to a peak, and finally lands softly in a meditative space. Then the event closes with a live sound healing experience.
Ecstatic Dance Kansas City gathers once a month at the historic Greenwood Social Hall, a special sanctuary that has become a home for our dance community.
