1309, A COMEDY-HORROR SURREALIST THEATER PIECE, RETURNS TO THE PUBLIC ON

AUG. 20TH, 23RD, 27TH, 29TH, 30TH 2025

WRITTEN AND DIRECTED BY MAZZY MANN, 1309 IS A COMEDY-HORROR WITH ELEMENTS OF DOMESTIC DRAMA. THE PRODUCTION USES MAGICAL REALISM TO TELL A COMING-OF-AGE STORY BASED ON TRUE EVENTS IN THE AUTHOR’S LIFE.

At the turn of the 21st century, Mazzy, a young queer teenager in pursuit of self-acceptance, exposes a powerful web of mis-trust and lies with her family . Mazzy’s mother and stepfather Tony, have issues within their marriage, and her younger brother, Blue, is mute and uses their computer games to escape. The protagonist, against all odds, finds her way out, discovering the true meaning of family . Prepare to laugh and cry through this stunning and refreshingly current performance art. 1309 illustrates what 'coming out' can feel like: “The entrapment, the misunderstanding, a mirror into our own failures of achieving the nuclear family , and the pursuit to ‘fit in.’” – Mazzy
