Jude Brothers
Arkansas | Harp Folk, Experimental Americana
Jude Brothers makes music somewhere between an old folk tale, a half-remembered dream, and an unfamiliar journey. Blending Celtic harp, banjo, tenor guitar, and traditional American folk influences, Brothers creates a sound that is at once ancient, adventurous, and entirely their own. Their songwriting moves effortlessly between delicate melodies, unexpected turns, and moments of raw emotional intensity. Their latest album, Dogwood Maiden Voyage, released on Gar Hole Records, expands their musical landscape with fiddle, upright bass, layered harmonies, and rich acoustic arrangements. A captivating performer with a wandering spirit, Brothers brings an imaginative and deeply personal approach to contemporary folk music.
Creekbed Carter Hogan
Minnesota | Historycore, Folk, Americana
Creekbed Carter Hogan is a trans folksinger, songwriter, and storyteller based in Saint Paul, Minnesota, making what they call historycore: a wonderfully unconventional blend of traditional folk, Americana, Appalachian music, and experimental sounds. Their songs weave together American history, working-class stories, personal transformation, political defiance, and unexpected humor. Equal parts irreverent and heartfelt, Hogan's songwriting finds beauty in the complicated business of being human. Their latest album, PEASANTS REVOLT, released on Gar Hole Records, explores medieval ballads, Appalachian labor songs, and modern stories of resistance and community. Funny, fearless, and fiercely compassionate, Hogan makes music that reminds us there's always room for joy, solidarity, and a good song shared among strangers.
True Lions
Kansas City | Elevated Folk Freaks
True Lions is the wonderfully unpredictable Kansas City project of Al Hawkins, a songwriter, folk-punk fiddler, and multi-instrumentalist, often collaborating with producer and multi-instrumentalist Fritz Hutchison. Describing themselves as "elevated folk freaks," True Lions blends Ozark old-time music, traditional fiddle, Americana, folk-punk, and experimental rock into something familiar yet delightfully strange. Their sound ranges from acoustic roots music to amplified fiddle distortion, heavy drums, and unexpected theatrical flourishes. With a spirit rooted in Kansas City's independent music community, True Lions approaches folk tradition as a starting point rather than a set of rules. Expect adventurous arrangements, infectious energy, and music that might make you want to dance before you quite know what you're hearing.
