Award-winning Americana, bluegrass, folk, and blues meet the open road when Weary Ramblers bring their genre-defying sound and unforgettable storytelling to Greenwood Social Hall.
Featuring Iowa songwriters Chad Elliott on guitar and harmonica and Kathryn Severing Fox on fiddle, mandolin, and more, Weary Ramblers are a musical force whose chemistry, craftsmanship, and adventurous spirit have earned national recognition. As Iowa Public Radio puts it, “Weary Ramblers are nothing short of an Iowa-based super duo.”
Since forming in 2022, Elliott and Severing Fox have built an impressive catalog of original music rooted in lived experience, road-worn stories, and a shared love of a good song. Their self-titled 2024 debut spent seven weeks at No. 1 on the Roots Music Report Contemporary Folk Album chart, while “Pretty Lights of Denver” topped the Contemporary Folk Song chart and earned a Josie Music Award for Americana Song of the Year. The album also features acclaimed singer-songwriter Pieta Brown on two tracks.
Their 2025 follow-up, Driftwood, continued the momentum, reaching No. 1 on both the Contemporary Folk Album and Folk Album charts. Featuring bluegrass legend Sam Bush on mandolin, the album showcases the duo’s willingness to wander beyond genre boundaries while remaining firmly grounded in the art of songwriting.
In 2026, Weary Ramblers added even more honors to their growing list of accolades. They received the overall grand prize from the International Acoustic Music Awards, earned four gold medals from the European International Music Awards, and took home an International Acoustic Music Award for Best Country/Bluegrass Song for “Kentucky Never Seemed So Blue.”
They also ventured to Memphis to compete in the Blues Foundation’s International Blues Challenge, where they were awarded Best Solo/Duo. Elliott additionally earned the distinction of Best Guitarist in the Solo/Duo category.
But beyond the charts and awards, Weary Ramblers are storytellers at heart. Elliott and Severing Fox co-write all their material, often working out lyrics backstage or between stops on the road. Their live performances weave together original songs, tales of adventure, personal reflections, and genuine laughs—a little grit, a little heart, and plenty of musical surprises.
Currently touring nationwide and writing songs for their third album, Weary Ramblers bring the kind of lived-in musicianship that feels equally at home in a bluegrass jam, a blues club, or an intimate listening room.
Join us at Greenwood Social Hall for an evening of remarkable songwriting, virtuosic musicianship, and stories that travel as far as the music.
